After another great breakfast we decided to visit the Friday market in Bukit Lawang. We weren't really sure what to expect but figured it would be interesting, busy and noisy.

The market was full of all sorts of stalls - aimed more at locals than tourists based on what we saw. You could buy all sorts of fruit, vegetables, spices, herbs, fish and other meats. People were shopping for second hand clothes and all the while motorbikes and tuk tuks were driving around the place.

A pet stall was selling small fish and also dyed chicks - I guess they grow up into normal chickens.

In the afternoon we met up with one of the team from Batu Kapal to pick up some t-shirts we'd ordered and then had a look through the tourist market. More expensive, but more practical in terms of things to bring home.

I think we reached 'peak food' today - there's only so much rice and noodles you can eat at very reasonable prices and so we had a light day based around fruit and biscuits.

Tomorrow is overnight jungle trek day.
