Today's activity was carrying bamboo tree stakes across the Landak River to part of the wildlife corridor. Simple tasks involving physical work are surprisingly tough in this heat and humidity. Yesterday we were moving tree saplings to a new nursery area and they'll be planted out to help create passages for orangutans and monkeys to move around and feed.

Other activities so far have been clearing plastic from the river ready for recycling, daily monitoring of wildlife activity, cutting and moving 6m bamboo trunks.

We're still on track to see at least one orangutan each day. Schmolli the alpha male was eating in the tree by a nearby guesthouse at lunchtime today.

It's not all work though. We went for a lunchtime swim in the Landak River to visit the local waterfall. What a amazing place to explore - we saw butterflies, large lizards and a sizeable frog.
